About this blog
Welcome to the blog section of lindsaymjones.com! I made this blog as a way for me to track my progress in my various duties at my job(s). In this, I will post as often as possible updates to what work I am doing, and also post summary updates either weekly or bi-monthly. This blog is currently powered by WordPress hosted on my domain. Thank you for visiting.
About the author
I began making my first websites in 1997 beginning with Yahoo!Geocities as my first free web site host. Starting in 1999, I started to learn HTML/XHTML and CSS and by 2002, I had bought my own web space and domain. While in college, I took courses to increase my repertoire of scripting languages. Since then, I have increased my skills to an intermediate to advanced level in my knowledge of CSS and learned basic PHP and MySQL. In addition, I began familiarizing myself with Javascript, XML, and AJAX.
Although I’ve known since 6th grade that I wanted to go to the University of Texas and major in Japanese, my career goals changed when I as encouraged to apply for an open spot as a web designer/developer with the University by my Japanese professor. In fact, the job was to maintain and develop for the Japanese Program and associated Japanese language tutoring websites.
When I was hired for the position of webmaster for the Japanese program websites, I was allowed to develop or illustrate for other websites in the College of Liberal Arts. Although I still love learning languages (I went on to take coursework in Chinese and German), this opportunity with the University shifted my desire to become a web developer and designer.
